Statement of Intent

9K Secure Ltd is committed to creating a diverse workplace. We seek to create and maintain a fair workplace representative of all sections of the wider community. Equality and Diversity Impact Measures will be used to ensure effective management, so that 9K Secure Ltd remains fair and impartial.

There will be no discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation – or any other grounds.

All staff and students, suppliers, customers or third parties will be treated with respect. At all times selection, training, career development and rewards will be determined solely on the basis of aptitude and ability. 9K Secure Ltd employee /students are free from any undue commercial, financial and any other pressures which might influence their judgement.

Rights of Disabled People:

Under the terms of the policy, 9K Secure Ltd personnel are required to:

  • Make reasonable adjustments to maintain the services of an employee /student who becomes disabled, for example, training, provision of special equipment, reduced working hours.
  • Include disabled people in training programmes.
  • Give full and proper consideration to disabled people who apply for jobs or training, having regard to make reasonable adjustments for their particular aptitudes and abilities to allow them to be able to do the job or course.

Equality Training:

Training will be provided for managers on this policy and the associated arrangements.

Monitoring:

9K Secure Ltd states its intention not to discriminate and assumes that this will be translated into practice consistently across the organisation as a whole. A monitoring system will be introduced to measure the effectiveness of the policy and arrangements. 9K Secure Ltd will:

  • Provide continuous assessment of its policies in order to examine how they will affect protected groups and to identify whether its policies help to achieve equality of opportunity for all these groups, or whether they have an adverse impact
  • Monitor the recruitment, training and progress of all employee /students, collecting and collating equalities information and data as required by law where necessary
  • Promote an inclusive culture, good practice in teaching, learning and assessment, and good management practice, through the development of codes of best practice, policies and training.
  • Take positive action whenever possible to support this policy and its aims
  • Publish this policy widely amongst employee /students, together with policy assessments, equality analysis and results of monitoring.

Grievances / Discipline:

Employee’s / students have a right to pursue a complaint concerning discrimination. Employee’s / students who feel that they have suffered any form of discrimination should raise the issue through their department manager or trainer.

Discrimination and victimisation will be treated as disciplinary offences and 9K Secure Ltd will take appropriate action to investigate any allegations and prevent it happening again.

Review:

All practices and procedures are reviewed to ensure fairness. The policy will be monitored and reviewed on a regular basis, to ensure all statutory obligations under relevant legislation are met and, where possible, anticipate future legal requirements. This will be informed by:

  • The Equality Act (2010) and associated secondary legislation.
  • Criminal Justice and Immigration Act (2008)
  • The Racial and Religious Hatred Act (2006)
  • The Civil Partnership Act (2004)
  • The Gender Recognition Act (2004)
  • Criminal Justice Act (2003)
  • The Human Rights Act (1998)
  • The Protection from Harassment Act (1997)
  • Special Education Needs and Disability Act (2001)
